Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life …Ralph Waldo Emerson.
We all pursue our careers and stay busy in day-to-day activities or doing other important things which matter in life. But there are moments when we don’t feel like doing anything. If we are following a daily disciplined routine of self-improvement, at times we get overpowered by time stealers like negative feelings or boredom which we definitely don’t want.
There is a need to learn about how to use our time wisely when we are free. Our mind is like a garden. If we do not grow flowers (positive thoughts), weeds (Negative thoughts) will grow automatically without making any efforts.
It is very important to guard our thoughts during these spare moments and to stay in high spirits. Otherwise, we shall start thinking negative or doing unproductive work thereby wasting our precious time. This takes us a few steps backwards in our journey of success.
Spare moments give us the opportunities to do the things which otherwise we might have ignored. Don’t let spare moments turn into dull moments. Your job is to do whatever gives you positive energy during your spare time.
Here are some suggestions to make use of your spare moments:
- Do some meditation or read few pages of scriptures.
- Do Brisk walk or jogging or go to gym.
- Pursue your hobby.
- Read good books, blogs for some inspiration.
- Enjoy good music.
- Find someone to play with– kids, friends or your pets.
- Visit someone. Good relationships are invaluable.
- If you don’t feel like doing anything, recharge your body by taking rest.
Resolve today not to waste a moment.
